Correct. Trump is dumber than Camacho. Also, Camacho was a selfless person that wanted to fix things. Trump was too self absorbed to fix anything.

This is objectively worse

Pretty even if ohch my balls was two people agreeing to sit their and hit each other in the dick with a 2x4 it would literally be less harmful and cause less brain damage than this.

This is just bum fights

Plus itd be limited to two people like, hurting themselves for entertainment. Stupid still, but I feel like lots of people COMPETING to hurt eachother better is the kind of low that stupid people who think they are smart enjoy. I remember in high school PE, there was a guy who would let anyone kick him in the nuts for five bucks. One time he got kicked by a girl and it fucked him up. Within a few minutes one of his balls had swelled up to the size of a large orange. He said the next week it had to be removed, but I don't know if he was just fucking around.

That actually made sense in the lore of the movie which is also a common conspiracy theory. The Area 51 conspiracy theory that an alien spacecraft crashed in New Mexico and we used the technology from that spaceship to advance humanity. ie Microwave, radar, and computer advancements all come from alien technology. So our computer tech and coding languages would be compatible because it is all based on their technology.

I watched Rocky for the first time recently and had two thoughts.

1) Surprisingly solid movie

2) Holy shit that final fight was hilarious. He just gets punched in the face like 50 times in row without landing a punch.

64

u/IAMBollock 2d ago

Surprisingly solid movie

Why is it surprising that a massively acclaimed and loved movie is 'solid' lmao, because it's old?

34

u/CraigArndt 2d ago

One of the problems with older “classics” is that people today have often seen what they inspired before going back to watch the original. Which can make the unique ideas, styles, or themes that made the original stand out, suddenly feel used and tired. Also a lot of older movies can have language or themes that at the time were okay, but aren’t today. Not just racism, but you’d be surprised how technology has changed movies over the years. Half of old horror movie plots would be solved with a cell phone and might not be as scary because of it.

So Rocky holding up after all this time is remarkable and a testament to it rightfully being viewed as a classic.

the problem was this specific competition. they put 0 safety rules into place and allowed people to use their palms when slapping. that’s how you get severe injuries and knockouts. they probably did this to get more injuries and knockouts to draw more attention to the show. normal slapping competitions have strict rules and don’t have nearly this many knockouts

Yeah those hits would be a disqualification in any serious slapping tournament. The entire reason to hit with the fingers and not the palm is so stuff like that doesn't happen. Too bad Dana White thinks every competitor should be treated like his wife.

81

u/Famous-Ferret-1171 2d ago

80

u/zealot416 2d ago

As silly as that statement sounds, it is worth bearing in mind that people who routinely slap each other in the face are calling Dana White's version out as unsafe.

15

u/Maeserk 2d ago edited 2d ago

“Serious” in the sense that there’s more adherence to safety procedures. SlapFIGHT or the slapfighting championship, SFC, on YouTube are examples of the most well known, and they do it quite well.

Power slap doesn’t really enforce stepping (which I played baseball, majority of your power in a swing comes from your lower body, majority of baseball players power comes from gaining ground, physics baby), nor do they enforce clubbing, which is hitting with your wrist/lower palm, which is what causes the knockouts, which is what Dana wants, but isn’t safe. It’s essentially just hitting someone with a right hook at that point. Also there seems to be a lack of weight classes, or serious consideration of it.

Like no one is arguing it’s “safe”, much like the UFC it’s two people pummeling each other, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be mitigations to keep people from developing straight up DANGEROUS TBIs and getting knocked out.

The best slap fights are those of endurance, and lasting long enough, where you just question “how much more can a man take?” Not knocking someone out, that’s punch out not a slap fight.

I have this debate with people all the time. I say how slap fighting is stupid and they bring up "Well what about boxing, mma, etc". I'm like, are you serious?! Half of the time people spend training for those sports is how to BLOCK or AVOID attacks and to take less damage. This is literally just getting hit in the head repeatedly over and over

50

u/culturerush 2d ago

I mean I don't have very positive views on combat sports at all to be entirely honest, I say that as someone who's done kickboxing in the past and went to watch boxing live.

To each his own and all that and I can see the technicality needed to be a good boxer or MMA fighter compared to this. But when I went to go watch boxing last and the crowd around me was screaming for one guy to be knocked unconscious I realised that for most these sports are about watching 2 people really hurt eachother rather than the technical aspect. Sort of like rugby fans who watch for the big knockout tackles or F1 fans who watch for the crashes.

I get it, there is a morbid fascination with it, it's the reason why violence in films does well I guess too. But it's not my cup of tea and I prefer to watch skills in running, team coordination, strength etc than trying to hurt someone until they give up or get knocked unconscious.

All that being said this slapping shit is the next level of stupid.

16

u/RainbowDissent 2d ago

The only thing that separates us from the huge crowds who'd turn up to watch public torture or executions in recent history is a veneer of civilization that tells us we shouldn't do those things.

Dana “I slap my wife” White’s Slap Fest. Fucking concussion central. A pro wrestler died in a horrific car wreck taking his daughters to cheer practice. AEW wanted to do a tribute show and Warner Brothers Discovery Executives said no. Because he made a insensitive tweet a decade ago (and did a lot to make up for it). Meanwhile this comes on after AEW. Oh, and his daughters are in the hospital with broken backs, legs and god knows what else.

7

u/Jaxyl 2d ago

WBD has since reversed that decision - the surviving Briscoe brother will have a match tonight on AEW in honor of his brother. The show will also be a tribute to Jay Briscoe.

Not that anything you said was wrong, just that public pressure got WBD to crack.

6

u/faithisuseless 2d ago

I just saw that. The fact that it took so much convincing is horrible. They air shows like this but it takes podcasts, fans, emails, and whoever else yelling for a week just to do this? It should have been an instant yes. I guess we shouldn’t expect much from a trash network that only delayed this show for a week after the video of Dana slapping his wife got out.

443

u/Zaphh_ 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's called 'clubbing' (a.k.a using your wrist) and it's illegal in this sport.

But Dana White doesn't give shit so he doesn't enforce these rules, for shock value and knockdowns.

(edit : 'illegUal')

→ More replies

36

u/JoeBucksHairPlugs 2d ago

Slap fighting is supposed to have rules to protect the "combatants", basically all of which were ignored entirely on that strike. The two biggest problems with that swing were the obvious use of the palm (clubbing) and the momentum she gathered by leaning into the swing, both of which would have led to a disqualification in any other slap fighting leagues not owned by that sack of shit Dana White.

You're supposed to only make contact with your 4 fingers because it causes much of the stinging pain without the blunt force trauma. The force generated is also supposed to be entirely from your own generated rotation because leaning away and then putting all your weight behind a swing is substantially more force.

It's just awful technique and most of these blows are going to lead to severe concussions and brain damage.

It was their first time trying it out and they were under the impressions that they had to do like a palm strike right on the cheek kind of thing and didn't expect for the more experienced person to get them right in the neck artery basically based on what they thought the rules were, but I guess it's an allowed hit.

I knew women getting slapped with an open hand looked familiar. This has Dana White's DNA all over it.

He's looking for tips.

Yup, and his league is far more dangerous than others due to a lack of enforcement of rules against clubbing (hitting with the palm rather than the fingers) and stepping into the slap (rather than simply rotating at the waist). MoistCr1TiKaL had a video on it recently ("People Are Mad At Me").

Video here isn't clear enough to tell, but looks to me like she clubbed him her.

Because we cannot let You go around slapping people in their faces with laser engravers.

11

u/Witty-Cartographer 2d ago

Origin story for the supervillain named “The Laser EnGRAVEr”. The twist is not in the weapon but how it’s used.

How is this a sport?

173

u/Plebmaster129 2d ago

This is power slap a horrible and very unsafe version of a slap fighting, In all other regulated tournaments there are rules in place to keep other players safe such as, no clubbing (hitting with your palm instead of your fingers), no stepping forward, ect. But powerslap had none of these and this is why clips like this happened

u/TheDeHymenizer 2d ago

yeah looked like she basically palm striked her right on the button

30

u/Sacredzebraskin 2d ago

If you pause/unpause quickly you can clearly see she struck her with the palm. She steps forward and tilts her whole hand so what connects is the bit of palm under her pinky. That shit had got to hurt bad.

At least 80% of the people who retire from this incredibly stupid sport will have CTE when they die. Tell me I’m wrong.

6

u/sevseg_decoder 2d ago

99% of retired NFL a players do, this will be a solid 100% for anyone who competed longer than a round or two.

This ‘sport’ will get banned at some point.

Then people will look back and say wtf, how was this allowed?

I mean it's just about how well you can hit the tip of the chin and you'll KO anyone... You can see their head go bobble head wobble because the chin took the impact. This is a dumb "sport"? But I appreciate the literal Facepalm

I don't see this catching on for very long. You're asking to get brain damage and I don't think many people want that on themselves.

This is the most stupid sport I’ve ever seen.

20

u/truthorbrick 2d ago I'll Drink to That

I lost a tooth -
I lost an eye -
I saw my life go flashing by.

My hearing broke -
My brain changed place -
She killed my whole entire face.

My kidneys stopped -
My spine detached -
It’s not my finest slapping match.

I love it though -
I chase the thrills -
But most of all it pays the bills.

These vids should be stopped. These have nothing to do with sport, and erverything to do with these people (including dana) being incredibly stupid and greedy. Fuck these guys.

7

u/Pendraggin 2d ago

The "fighters" aren't getting paid enough to warrant being called greedy. They're being taken advantage of if anything -- risking long-term brain damage and death for a couple thousand USD.
