It's 2023, about time to respond with "oh" or "okay".

No, too late, he shouldve done that in 2022, now he has to wait till 2025 to respond so it would have been 6 years

3 years later - "k"

This is totally the kind of thing I would do. My reminder app is pretty much exclusively for things that are years down the road — for example, I have a reminder for a 10-year wedding anniversary gift in 2026.

I was just doing this. I am you, you are me.

Next is to look up local Meetup groups, discord servers and check out your local subreddit. Look for a board game group. Those are dope. They may only meet occasionally but it's something to look forward to.

u/Suck_Me_Dry666 4d ago
Don't wanna but good advice in general

u/AdmiralDandyShoes 3d ago
At least give your local discord group a try. I checked out the Reddit Arizona server and there was a small group that just played tarkov. Not really my game but they were chill.

Retro itachi with character development. From “u have mic” to proper spelling and grammar. Reminds me of when I was 11 and started playing online games. Was typing like I rolled out of bed and sniffed glue every morning lol

The subject changes in the middle of the sentence, so I think they needed a
commasemicolon in order for it to be fully correct.12
u/thereIsAHoleHere 4d ago
No, that would be a comma splice. They could use a conjunction, a semicolon/colon, or a period.

u/HeyIJustSaid 4d ago
Conjunction junction, what’s your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.

Using proper grammar feels like drawing a Sierpinski Triangle by hand. No matter how many rules I learn to follow, there are always more that I'm failing at. I suppose that you eventually get close enough to the real thing that most people can't tell the difference without a magnifying glass, which is good enough. Thanks for the correction.
2
u/thereIsAHoleHere 3d ago
Oh, for sure. I don't think most people care. I only brought it up since you were talking about what's "fully correct." I'd recommend The Elements of Style by William Strunk (and E.B. White) for an overview of English form. It's concise and entertaining, so don't let the topic throw you off.
1
u/Axunujar 3d ago
I'm really not much of a writer (or a reader), but I appreciate the suggestion regardless. The grammar I care about the most is the grammar of whatever programming language I happen to be using.
1
u/thereIsAHoleHere 3d ago
I mean, writing is essential to communication and understanding. You're doing it now, and I know you do it at work (either through email or Slack/Teams/JIRA).
1
u/Axunujar 3d ago
That's true. That's why I place value on ensuring that the grammar of a message is good enough to be understood without any double-takes or moments of confusion.

It was closer to two and a half years, Itachi, so responding is perfectly reasonable.

She might be dead. Or she just stopped using the app, but dead is more dramatic.

This reminded me (for some reason, it's not very similar) of the time I got stood up by a girl I met online. We had texted a lot so I had her number.
When she no-showed I texted her "I can't believe I wore a new pair of socks for this."
We did meet up eventually, but she was lame and spent the whole date on her phone.
2
u/TurnkeyLurker 4d ago
She had a foot fetish. She was holding her phone under the table trying to zoom in on your socks for a close-up picture, but had inadvertently shut off the flash and was trying to raise the brightness level. She was not successful, and was embarrassed to ask for more.

Just had this happen.
About six months ago someone asked a question in Discord and I DMed them because the answer to their question always stirs up trouble in that server.
Yesterday they replied saying thanks and saying they had been meaning to reply but had been so busy lately.
I don't know this person and had forgotten about the conversation entirely.

u/BobThe_Body_Builder 4d ago
In 3 years, he went from using "u" to "you." That's some character development

This happened to me recently, I logged in my account and saw a message from 2-3 years ago and it was like do you wanna play Bad Company 2. Sadly, the servers were offline.

I sometimes get people commenting on my threads or posts years after going up. I don't understand how they even find them.

Still waiting for the mic to age to retro status, then BOOOM!!! HAHAHA, I HAD THE MIC THIS WHOLE TIME! Drops mic on poor Itachi's humble grave.

'Hey, sorry. Been a little busy. Wanna hop on a game now?"
"It's been 7 years. I have a wife and kids now."
"Cool. Is that a no, then?"

I know that dude he was in a coma right after he readed the text , after he woke up he said that it was early morning and just got up from a nightmare dreaming that he had a baby named mic with his ex , so when he reached out he's phone and saw the text he thought that she was the one texting telling him that she's pregnant in a sarcastic way '' u have mic ''

Me when someone replies to a reddit comment I made greater than a week ago.
For real who the heck replies to a 1 month, 1 year, or even 3 year old comment?

One time I randomly got a text from my roommate. I replied and he was confused. Turns out he sent the text 2 years prior
